APMI delivers nationally recognised first aid and emergency response training designed to support workplace safety, regulatory compliance, and community capability.
Our first aid courses are delivered and assessed in accordance with the Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) and relevant training package requirements, with a strong emphasis on practical skills, assessment integrity, and learner competence.
Overview of First Aid Training
First aid training is suitable for individuals and organisations requiring the skills and knowledge to respond appropriately to emergency situations in the workplace or community settings.
Training focuses on:
- Recognising and responding to emergency situations

All assessments are conducted against the requirements of the relevant units of competency.

HLTAID014 – Provide Advanced First Aid
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to provide an advanced first aid response, including leadership in emergency situations.
Suitable for:
- Workplace first aid officers
- Team leaders and supervisors
- High-risk work environments
Key learning outcomes include:
Incident reporting and review
Coordinating first aid response
Managing multiple casualties
Providing advanced life support techniques
HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid
This unit covers the skills and knowledge required to provide first aid response, life support, and management of casualties until emergency services arrive.
Suitable for:
- Workplaces
- Schools and childcare services
- Community organisations
Key learning outcomes include:
Providing first aid in line with workplace requirements
Responding to emergencies
Managing injuries and illnesses


HLTAID009 – Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.
Suitable for:
- Workplace first aiders
- Educators and carers
- Community members
Key learning outcomes include:
Communicating details of the incident
Responding to an emergency situation
Performing CPR techniques
HLTAID009 – Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation-
HLTAID012 – Provide First Aid in an Education and Care Setting
This unit is specifically designed for workers in education and care settings, including early childhood education and care services.
Suitable for:
- Early childhood educators
- School staff
- Out-of-school-hours care workers
Key learning outcomes include:
Managing asthma, anaphylaxis, and other childhood conditions
Responding to emergency situations involving children
Providing first aid in an education and care environment
Provide First Aid Response in an Education and Care Setting (HLTAID012)

Delivery Modes
First aid training may be delivered through approved delivery modes, including:
- Face-to-face classroom delivery
- Workplace or onsite group training
- Structured sessions with practical assessment
Delivery arrangements are determined through a training needs analysis to ensure suitability for learners and compliance with unit requirements.
Assessment Approach
Assessment is conducted in line with the principles of assessment and rules of evidence, and may include:
- Practical demonstrations
- Scenario-based assessment
- Knowledge questions
Learners must demonstrate competence in all required elements and performance criteria to be deemed competent.
Certification
Upon successful completion of the course requirements:
- Learners will be issued a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment or qualification, as applicable
- Certification is issued in accordance with regulatory requirements and RTO policies

- Information on assessment and certification
